Club 40 Racing
See www.Club40Racing.com for complete rules and more information.
Club 40 uses ARF models produced by The World Models Company.
There are two different models that approved for Club 40.
The Sky Raider Mach II and the LA Racer 40 have effectively identical wings and stabilizers.
The LA Racer 40 uses dual aileron servos and has a cowl around part of the engine.
Extensive testing has shown there to be very little difference in the planes.
The generally accepted wisdom is that the Sky Raider Mach II turns quicker and the LA Racer 40 is slightly faster on long straight-aways.
Both make excellent everyday sport planes and they are quite aerobatic.
Some people are even using them for flight training new pilots.
The street price for the Sky Raider Mach II is $89.99 and the LA Racer 40 is $99.99.
AirBorne Models has worked with us to accommodate our needs.
The Sky Raider Mach II is available in four solid colors with CA hinges.
The choices are solid white, solid yellow, solid orange, and solid red.
It is also available at the same price in an ARC (Almost Ready to Cover) for people who want to use MonoKote or Ultracote, or any other type of covering.
The LA Racer is now available in solid white and solid yellow.
The four original color schemes are still available.
Assembly of even the simplest of ARF planes can lead to interpretation of instructions, and common practices.
The Club 40 rules list all acceptable modifications and provide guidelines on assembly.
The engines used for Club 40 are .40 cubic inch displacement 2 stroke engines.
The selection is limited to currently produced sport type engines.
No specialized high dollar engines are allowed.
The Club 40 rules list the acceptable engines.
All engines used in Club 40 are required to be stock per the AMA R/C Pylon Racing Rules.
